Birth is personal. It can be beautiful, complicated, unpredictable, empowering, overwhelming, or all of those things at once.
There is no single right way to give birth or become a parent. At BirthX, we make evidence-based information about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum easier to understand and easier to use, so every family can better understand their options and find the path that is right for them.
We don't tell you what to choose. We help you understand what's possible.
Why We Exist
Too often, families are expected to make important decisions about pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care without enough information, enough time, or enough support.
And the stakes are real. The United States continues to face a serious maternal health crisis, with Black women experiencing disproportionately high rates of maternal morbidity and mortality.
BirthX is building a movement toward more informed, patient-centered maternity care by helping families understand their options, know what questions to ask, and feel prepared to participate in decisions about their care.
We believe good information should be:
- Trustworthy — grounded in evidence and current guidance
- Understandable — without unnecessary medical jargon
- Inclusive — reflecting the many ways families grow and give birth
- Practical — designed for real life, not just the exam room
Information alone won't fix the maternal health crisis, but families deserve the knowledge and tools to participate meaningfully in decisions about their care.

- Educate — We publish evidence-based articles about pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum, and parenting for all kinds of families.
- Prepare — We help you understand what to expect and develop questions to bring to your healthcare team.
- Connect — We are building tools that help families learn from one another and find information relevant to their experiences.
- Build BirthBot — Our upcoming text-based chatbot, BirthBot, will use microlearning to provide education about pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum, right when you need it.
- Center your goals — We give you information without telling you what your birth is supposed to look like.

Quality childbirth education shouldn’t depend on where you live, how much money you make, or whether you already know the right questions to ask.

Maternal health outcomes are not experienced equally. We center the people most affected by disparities, including Black birthing people, while working toward better care for everyone.

Pregnancy and parenthood can feel isolating. We are creating a space where people can learn, share experiences, ask questions, and feel less alone.
